Bipasha is famous for winning the Ford Supermodel Of The World contest in 1996 at the ripe age of 17. Needless to say, this acted as a nice catalyst for Bipasha’s fledgling modeling career, which has included countless magazine covers, spreads and fashion shows, resulting in her being dubbed the Goddess of the Ramp.
While quite successful as a model, Bipasha has carved out quite a film career for herself by acting in over 30 films since 2001. Bipasha is India’s answer to Lindsay Lohan (sans the omnipresent familial drama).
Bipasha Basu was born on May 5, 1979, in New Delhi, India, and was the second of three daughters. She eventually moved from New Delhi and spent her formative years in Calcutta where she studied for a business degree. Bips describes her transformation into a model and actress as something that happened “quite by accident,” and her original desire was to be a doctor. Thank God for happy accidents.
